NexxLinx of Maine enlisted for Hurricane Sandy Relief


NexxLinx of Maine is taking immediate action to help people in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, Washington, D.C., Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts affected by the storm. Along with HP/EDS/FEMA, NexxLinx (Orono) is offering immediate employment positions to residents of Maine who want to step up to help people in the middle-Atlantic and Northeast affected by SuperStorm Sandy.

In support of HP Enterprise Services under contract to FEMA, NexxLinx (Orono) is immediately hiring contact center agents to serve as a direct telephone point of contact for disaster applicants registering for federal disaster assistance and callers seeking relief program referrals.

These jobs are immediate. NexxLinx intends to hire 400 people over the next week. Agents need to be 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and pass customary background and credit checks. Bi-lingual (Spanish) ability is a plus. Agent salary is $11.69/hour plus $3.71 additional for Health and Welfare for a total of $15.40/hour. Supervisors will earn $18 - $20/hour, depending on experience. "These jobs are full-time and temporary. That means that we'll support this effort for two to twelve weeks, or however long FEMA needs us", said Jeff Buckman, COO of NexxLinx.

Maine's Department of Labor will assist Nexxlinx in the recruitment of qualified indviduals.

"We have a tremendous amount of resources aimed at matching job creators with candidates, including the CareerCenters, Maine Job Bank and other various contacts, such as area chambers and the Veteran's Administration," said DOL Commissioner Jeanne Paquette. "This is exactly what we want to do - help employers find good employees."
